Is There Unclaimed Money with Your Name On It?
Chaco may be holding some unclaimed funds that belong to you. Funds can go "missing" in a number of ways. Often, Chaco simply loses contact with an account holder – typically due to a name change after marriage or divorce, an unreported change of address or incomplete records.
A lot of times, owners or heirs fail to communicate an interest in an asset over a specified number of years, known as the dormancy period. If that happens, Chaco must, by law, remit the funds to the protective custody of a government trust account. Here they await your claim.
If you believe that you or a family member has some unclaimed funds, please contact Chaco at 513-785-3500. To avoid having to ever hunt down funds that belong to you, follow these steps to prevent the problem of unclaimed assets:
- Keep your Chaco Credit Union accounts active by making transactions from time to time.
- Be sure to let us know if your name, address, telephone number or other information changes.
- Make a list of your accounts and insurance policies, and give a copy to a trusted relative.
Consult your attorney for advice on wills, trusts and other documents that will specify your wishes.
