Dalton Wealth Management ... Time In, Not Timing!
David M. Dalton, JD, MBA, CFP® Financial Consultant & LPL Registered Principal
My clients ask me, "Have we hit the bottom yet, Dave?" And my response is always the same: "I know better than to try to time the market."
It is virtually impossible to time the market. Successful investing is about time in the market, not timing it, and there's no time like the present to invest. In fact, there are a number of strategies to consider during prolonged periods of market volatility:
- One is dollar-cost averaging,* perhaps the most time-tested way to invest – investing regularly in up and down markets means you buy more shares when the price is low, and fewer shares when the price is high. An example would be your 401(k) and employer-sponsored retirement plan.
- Another is careful research – not all investments are down; you just have to look harder to find those that are prospering. That is where I can help.
- Diversification is another. If your portfolio is down more than the average, perhaps you're over-concentrated in a particular sector of the market, which can increase overall risk. Let me help you determine how well your investments are diversified.
I remain committed to this profession because I love what I do. As an independent financial adviser, I can offer top quality investment choices combined with professional guidance, experience and objective advice.
