Chaco Board of Director Candidate Profiles

The following candidates are seeking a seat on Chaco Credit Union's Board of Directors.

Robert M. Barrett has been a member of the Board of Directors since 1964, serving the last 28 years as chairman. He is retired from Champion International Paper Corporation where he worked for 39 years. Mr. Barrett says, "Chaco has grown and expanded its services while giving constant attention to the fact that Chaco is member-owned and remains true to the philosophy of 'people helping people.'" He has been a member of Chaco for 54 years.


John Dougherty currently serves as secretary and treasurer of Chaco's Board of Directors. Prior to becoming a board member, Mr. Dougherty served for 10 years on the Credit Union Supervisory/Audit Committee. Mr. Dougherty states, "I want to be part of the team directing the progress of Chaco Credit Union in providing service, convenience and financial responsibility for our current and future membership." He has been a member of Chaco for 35 years.


S. Scott Martin is seeking his second term as a Chaco Board member. Mr. Martin has been a practicing attorney for six years and has spent much time representing banks and other financial institutions. He also has experience in corporate and credit union law. Mr. Martin states, "I am a true believer in credit unions and have personally experienced the difference in service between a credit union and a large bank. I believe it is very important to focus on our members." Mr. Martin has been a member of Chaco for more than 10 years.

A ballot and return envelope are included with your December 2006 statement. All ballots must be returned by Feb. 16, 2007.
