Good Things about Rainy Days
Ever look outside and wonder when the sun
will shine again? That happens a lot in the
spring. Wet and gloomy weather isn't much
fun, but we do need the rain.
When it rains, fresh water flows into rivers,
lakes and oceans. We need this water to drink,
keep things clean and help plants grow. Rain
is nature's sprinkler, and farmers need lots of
rain to make sure their crops live so we have
food to eat.
Rainy Day Fun
Don't be sad when it's wet outside! Try these
rainy day ideas to have fun inside:
- Swap stories. Go to the library with a
friend. Instead of picking your own books
to read, find books for each other.
- Be a chef. Ask an adult to cook something
with you. It's a great way to find out what goes
into a recipe to make it taste good.
- Act in a play. Pick a favorite short story or
book and ask your friends and/or siblings to
make a play out of it.
- Count your pennies. Add up how much
money you have. If your piggy bank is getting
full, take your extra change and deposit it into
your savings account. You can save for some
fun on the next rainy day!
