Mechanical Breakdown Insurance Provides Extra Protection
When do most cars need a major repair? After the auto manufacturer's warranty expires, of course! If you plan to keep your car for many years, Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI) may be a good investment for you. MBI is available through DCU at about half the cost of an extended warranty from a dealer. Because it's an insurance option, its coverage and premiums are regulated by state insurance departments.
Lower Cost, More Benefits In addition to its fair price for new and used cars, MBI can typically be used at a repair shop of your choice (many dealer extended warranties limit work to specific dealerships). There are three MBI plans designed exclusively for DCU members, and you can choose one based on your needs and budget. All MBI plans include 24-hour roadside assistance, car rental coverage, and trip interruption coverage.

Available coverage includes:
- Engine –
diesel and rotary
- Cooling system
- Fuel pump
- Transmission
- Steering
- Brakes
- Electrical and electronics
- Suspension
- And more
For additional information about MBI, which can help you keep your vehicle in optimal condition, consult with a DCU loan representative at any branch, call 508.263.6700 or 800.328.8797, or visit dcu.org.
