Real World Learning with
Real World Solutions: CashPak

Making the leap to college life and/or moving away from parents is a big adjustment for many young adults. For some, it's the first time handling their own finances. Thanks to DCU CashPak, managing money – the smart way – is possible.

How CashPak Helps
CashPak is designed for 17- to 22-year-olds to have convenient access to their funds while also learning how to use the financial products they'll need as adults. It begins with full DCU membership if your child is not yet a member. Then CashPak opens the door to money management with:
  • FREE Checking. There's no monthly fee, no minimum balance and no per-check charge (DCU Custom Checks are free until age 23).
  • FREE DCU Visa® Check Card. It works as a debit card (money comes directly from checking) and as an ATM card for cash, deposits, and transfers between accounts.
  • Unlimited FREE ATM transactions. DCU ATMs are always FREE. In addition, DCU will reimburse up to $5 per month in non-DCU ATM surcharges.
  • 24-hour account access. Membership includes FREE online account access through PC Branch and Easy Touch Telephone Teller.
  • Visa Credit Card. A credit card is optional, but DCU's has no annual fee and a $1,000 starting limit. Used properly, it can help build good credit and come in handy for emergencies.
  • Show Me newsletter. This monthly publication offers helpful advice for managing money in the real world.
  • Personal computer loan. Many colleges require students to have computers. A personal computer loan can help make one affordable. A qualified co-signer (parent or guardian) is required.

Joint Ownership Options
Some parents and children prefer to set up CashPak with the child as the primary owner and the parent as the joint owner. This makes it easy for both parties to manage the account and for the parent to transfer money to the child as needed. A DCU representative can help you set up CashPak the way it will work best for you.

The Path to Financial Independence
