Make the Most of Vacation Time

Vacation time is precious – make the most of your time off by planning ahead and involving your family with travel decisions.

If traveling by air, book flights in advance. You may want to check out a site such as airfarewatchdog.com to check travel deals.*

If traveling by car, map your route online. Print directions and maps and keep them in a safe place in the car.

Arrange accommodations. Book hotel rooms and get confirmation numbers to ensure you have a place to rest. Unsure of the best location? Reading reviews on tripadvisor.com (by travelers) may help you narrow down your options. A house rental may be an option for family lodging – check out rentalo.com for places at your travel destination.*

Decide on some activities before you go. Having places on a "must-do" list can help you stay focused and ensure each person gets to do something they want to do. Research places and check hours, locations, pricing, and available discounts. It may also be helpful to determine a few places to eat ahead of time. No one likes to be hungry and cranky on vacation!

Get your finances in order. Plan your travel budget and which credit cards you will take (leave all others at home in a secure place).
