F-R-E-E-D-O-M!
When you were younger, did you look forward to having more independence and freedom? Now that you are older, how do you gain that independence? It's as easy as getting a checking account and knowing how to maintain it!
A checking account can give you all the independence you need. It allows you to:
- Order stuff online.
- Download music online.
- Get your first apartment.
- Get your first cell phone.
- Cash your paychecks.
- Make deposits and withdrawals.
- Have easy access to your money with your own debit card.
These are just a few reasons to get a checking account!
If you know the answers to the questions below, you are on your way to successfully managing your checking account:
- Do you know the difference between a checking account and a savings account?
- Do you know that there are different checking or saving accounts people can get depending on their needs?
- Do you know the difference between one interest-bearing checking account and another?
- Do you know the terms and conditions of your checking account?
Did any of these questions stump you?
Don't worry. You can find all the answers on the "FoolProof Solo" web site accessible from dcu.org. Watch a bunch of movies, listen to some music, meet some funky foreign people, and you'll soon know everything you need to know about checking and saving accounts.
Here's how: Head to dcu.org and click on "FoolProof Solo" on the right. Then head to module four: "Road Trip!"
And make sure you let me know what you think about "Road Trip!" I'm around to answer any of your questions. Email me at streetwise@dcu.org.
See you next month!
Cheers,
Will
