DR. JOHN C. RAWLS
Dr. John C. Rawls has been elected to the Board for 16 consecutive terms (a total of 45 years), has held every position on the Board and has served on nearly every major standing committee. Dr. Rawls also served as acting President/CEO from July 1995 to April 1996. Currently, Dr. Rawls serves as a director. He has completed all aspects of the Voluntary Achievement Program of CUNA (Credit Union National Association) and is a member of the Education Credit Union Council and The Directors Educational Forum. (For the latter, he was nominated for the 1995 Director of the Year Award.)

Florida Credit Union has recognized Dr. Rawls for his outstanding leadership, achievements and contributions in 1983, 1987, 1990 and 1996.The World Council of Credit Unions praised Dr. Rawls for participation in its 1996 International Credit Union Institute in Prague, Czech Republic. Florida Credit Union has benefited tremendously from Dr. Rawls' dedication and leadership contributions.

Dr. Barbara Buys
Dr. Barbara Buys' volunteer service for Florida Credit Union began in the early 1980s. She has served on a number of committees, including the Credit Committee and Supervisory Committee, where she served as Chair. Later, she was appointed to the Board of Directors. Since being appointed to the Board, Dr. Buys has served consecutive terms and has held a number of positions including Board Chair. She is currently the Secretary of the Board.

After earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington, Dr. Buys began teaching elementary school for the School Board of Alachua County. Dr. Buys has taught at Metcalf,Waldo and Littlewood Elementary Schools. During her tenure in the teaching profession, Dr. Buys attended the University of Florida were she earned a master's and Ph.D. in education. Since earning those degrees, Dr. Buys has served as a principal at a number of elementary schools. Her current position is principal at Wiles Elementary School.

Along with volunteering as a director on the Board of Florida Credit Union, she has volunteered with a number of community organizations that include representing the United Way, serving as a Girl Scout troop leader and participating in various professional organizations such as the Phi Delta Kappa professional education organization. Dr. Buys and her family have been long-time members of Florida Credit Union. Florida Credit Union has benefited tremendously from her many years of volunteer service and dedication.
