LFCU Employees Make a Difference
LFCU’s holiday tree was covered with Post-it notes with children’s names
and ages on them. Employees were able to pick notes and purchase gifts
for boys and girls in Penny Lane’s Foster Care Agency.
PENNY LANE TOY DRIVE
Lockheed Federal Credit Union employees hosted a toy drive in August and
raised $5,105 and collected 157 toys for Penny Lane Centers. The toys will be
distributed during the holiday season to children in Penny Lane’s Foster Care
Agency. The children range in age from a few months old to late teens.
This note came from Nydia Barakat, Fund Development Director for Penny Lane:
“We are so grateful for Lockheed Credit Union employees’ generosity. For some
of these children, this will be the only gift received during the holiday season.
Please know you gave more than a gift with your dollars and toys. Through your
gifts and generosity, you have given them hope and let them know that people
think about them. Because of your thoughtfulness, our children will feel uplifted,
special and hopeful – a great end to this year and an amazing beginning for
2012. Thank you, thank you so much.”
Since 2008, LFCU employees have brought in more than 450 toys and
more than $8,000 through its annual toy drive for Penny Lane Centers.
LFCU’s nonprofit foundation, LFCU Community Stars, continues to support
Penny Lane through monetary and volunteer contributions. LFCU was
honored at Penny Lane’s Voices of Our Children annual gala fundraiser on
Sept. 10 at the Shakespeare Club in Pasadena. Visit www.pennylane.org for more information.
